You cannot now walk directly out to Camp Polk Road from the tied down area. A 5 to 6 foot tall cedar fence has been added around the southern perimeter of the airport with what seems to include a keypad controlled security gate for driving in and out of the airport. While 5 feet is not that tall, it is considerably taller than the former cowboy fence that used to run around the south end of the airport so plan your approach to runway 02 accordingly.

Good airport and location. Afternoon and evening crosswinds can be difficult. The runway is lighted and 02 has a VASI, but use caution if landing on 02 at night and the wind is more than 10 knots. The go-around for 02 requires a sharp left turn at the end to follow the creek and meadow while avoiding the bluff straight ahead. Abort the approach early if in doubt, or go to RDM.
