Everything the Forest Service needs is brought in by pack mule. They do have propane refrigerator and freezer. They don't use the strip even though they maintain it. Bring them in some ice cream and you'll be a Rock Star!

Flying into Schaefer this late June was a good experience. However, on landing I carried too much speed into it and ended up going past the equally spaced cones. Once you pass the midpoint of the runway, it becomes rougher. Not dramatically but much tougher than the area within the cones. Will make sure to try and stop by before the midpoint the next time.

Flew into Schafer with my Pacer on 8.50 tires. The runway is in very good shape. Talked to the rangers at the station. Very friendly and welcoming offering me food and cookies. Fine little hike to the river.
