January 8, 2026Gary recently started charging landing fees with Vector, unless you need the services provided by the Jet Center/Customs I'd recommend going to 05C just south. No airport fees or adsb landing fees.

December 25, 2025Convenient to Chicago loop via train during rush hour (FBOs can shuttle you to / from South Shore Line commuter rail station). Outside rush hour, Uber/Lyft cost about the same as getting from Midway. Overall, Gary is quicker than Midway when flying IFR due to low congestion and short taxi times. Fees still much less than Midway though a little worse than they used to be (Vector is really bad... little transparency). Yes, there are smaller/cheaper airports for light GA but Gary is still worth it.
