May 15, 2025Take care flying out of this airport. Lots of strange wind shifts. Wind socks are at each end and difficult to observe from taxiway and usually show differing wind directions at the same time. Anticipate poorer performance than book calculated for DA, because of variable wind directions and sheer/down drafts from mountains. Taking off RWY 16 toward mountains has bad climb out and you must cross a saddle in foothills to your left when headed east. Can be unsettling to someone who hasn't experienced it here.
