Fine spot to stop, obtain fuel and enjoy a decent meal. I have stopped in 3 times in the past 60 days to acquire Jet A and the truck was ready for me to exit the helicopter. Waiting to pay for fuel only happened one time and the delay was under 10 minutes. Food service in the restaurant is quite quick.

Self service fuel service functions fine. FBO personnel friendly and accommodating. On-site restaurant appreciated. One major issue is the absence of tie-down anchors at ramp parking spaces. Parking spots are clearly marked on a nicely surfaced ramp, but there is no provision to secure planes.

I’ve been here a couple times a year for the past four years. Landing on 24 takes you right over a road with traffic, and 06 takes you over an active railroad. Monitor your airspeed—you can float down the runway if the road or railroad left you too high! FBO never acknowledges radio calls on the UNICOM. I’ve never had success getting full serve, but the self serve works okay. The personnel is friendly but it’s hard to get their attention, as the flight school keeps the staff occupied. There are no TIE DOWNS at the transient parking area, Bring your own chocks. Departing IFR is tricky. The RCO doesn’t work very well. It’s gotten simpler since phone numbers are published. Quantico Approach is the controlling facility but Potomac takes over when Quantico is closed (see AFD for hours). All IFR departures are routed north to the BRV (Brooke) VOR, even when your route is southbound. That seems worrisome since it’s pointing right at the Washington restricted area. If Potomac is busy it can be a bit anxiety
