May 18, 2026Arriving at this airport is super easy and convenient. Departing is where it gets tough. You need to call clearance delivery even when VFR. Be clear about whether you need a run up. Keep every frequency ready too, because ATC isn't going to hand them out. ForeFlight lists 126.9 as the departure frequency inside 15 NM, but they expect you to call 119.6. Have your NAVLOG pulled up as well. Once airborne, they start asking for details. If you aren't prepared, it gets stressful.

May 13, 2025Another good experience at Jackson Jet Center. I visited Boise for a couple of days and called ahead to reserve a spot and ask about parking with Crystal. Line crew directed me to a spot and upon departure pointed me to self serve fuel only to say, "we'll save you the trouble and give you the self serve price from the truck." Thanks Evan and the team who provide Mooney pilots with G5 level service.

April 27, 2025I flew into Boise in my DA40 for a few weeks. I went to Western FBO. These people really like to look after their customers. They marshaled me in, threw out the red carpet, assist me with my luggage, tied down the plane, and gave me a ride to my hotel. They even offered to take me to downtown Boise.
